Neighbors praised Rochester firefighters for their quick response to an apartment fire early Thursday morning.
It happened on Burley Road near Lake Avenue just before 2 a.m.
Firefighters said a neighbor across the street saw flames and called 911. The two-unit building is located between fire stations, so firefighters got there quickly.
Tom Lucas, a neighbor, appreciated the speedy response.
“They got here so fast. The houses are close here, so it could have spread easily,” said Lucas. They did a good job getting her and knocking the fire out.”
Firefighters said the building’s brick exterior helped contain the flames.
Neighbors told us one person lives in the unit that caught fire. The other unit is vacant.
Firefighters couldn’t immediately make contact with any residents, but said no one was injured.
No word yet on the cause of the fire.
