As a woman was mauled by a dog on Rockville Terrace early Wednesday morning, several neighbors – and good Samaritans – attempted to rush to her aid.
Fabian, who is just 14-years-old, and his dad Louis Crocitti woke up to their neighbor screaming at the top of his lungs for help
“He says, ‘Dad, dad, there’s some lady being attacked,’” said Louis. “So I got up out of bed, got dressed real quick, and grabbed a baseball bat, which is right next to my bed.”
By the time he got across the street, Rochester police had fired multiple shots, killing the pit bull. Crocitti says he did not set out to be a hero – he just wanted to help his neighbor out.
“I was just thinking of the lady, that poor lady being mauled,” he said. “I mean, the fight was knocked out of her. She wasn’t even screaming at that point. She was on the ground. It looked like she was trying to sit up.”
Fabian says when he saw the woman lying there unable to move, it makes him question the next time he’ll go outside play freely.
“It makes me think it could probably happen to me too, because I don’t know if it was a loose dog or not,” Fabian said. “But it does get me kind of worried. “
