Nazareth College officially broke ground Monday and announced plans to build the Jane and Laurence Glazer Music Performance Center.
The $15.5 million, 550-seat music venue will be engineered for a premier acoustic experience that will support performances of students and faculty.
It will be named after Jane and Larry Glazer, a beloved couple well-known to the Nazareth community for their leadership in rebuilding downtown Rochester.
The Glazer’s three children were among those who contributed to fund the performance center in memory of their parents.
“This is really a big deal, both for the college and the Rochester community,” said Nazareth President Daan Braveman. “Our music program is our second largest major in the college. And besides all the students who major in music, we have a large number of students who come here to major in other fields who want to continue to play an instrument or sing.”
The performing arts center is expected to open during spring 2018.
