Rochester’s Multi-Use Community Cultural Center will present “The Designated Mourner” Feb. 18-21.
Director Roger Gans and actor Michael Arve discussed the production Wednesday on News 8 at Noon.
The play begins with the line, “I am the designated mourner. I have to tell you that a very special little world has died, and I am the designated mourner.” The designated mourner, according to author Wallace Shawn, is the person assigned to mourn when there is no one else. Shawn is known to audiences for his role in “The Princess Bride” and “My Dinner with Andre.”
Arve is joined by veteran actors Peter Doyle and Vicki Casarett. Gans explained the story unfolds over several decades. Performances are as follows:
Thursday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, Feb. 21 at 2:00 p.m.
The MuCCC is located at 142 Atlantic Ave. in Rochester. For tickets call (585) 234-1254 or visit the MuCCC website, click here.
