A mother is mourning the death of her little boy, after he was hit and killed by a pickup truck on Monday night.
On Tuesday, Crystal Burnett tearfully spoke out about the incident.
The boy’s name was Jesiah, and Crystal says he was two years old. His family nickname was PeeWee. His mom says he was the light of the family, describing him as a hero
Jesiah was hit around 5 p.m. Monday on Parsells Avenue in Rochester, near Webster Avenue.
Crystal says she wasn’t home at the time. She says Jesiah’s 18-year-old brother was outside, watching his siblings.
The mother claims while Jesiah was playing basketball, the pickup truck hit the little boy.
She says she hasn’t spoken to the person responsible, but says she doesn’t hate the driver.
“You see the kids out here playing. Why would you not slow down?” said Crystal. “Do I hate her? No. Am I hurt? Yes. Do I understand it was a mistake? Yes. Do I forgive her? …I can’t say that.”
Crystal also said many on the the street have concerns safety, saying that people frequently speed.
The driver has not been charged. A donation page has been set up in Jesiah’s honor.
