A jury has convicted two men in connection to multiple stabbings outside a Charlotte bar in December 2016.

Flor Rivera, 48, was found guilty of assault in the first degree, second degree, and third degree for the stabbing of Keith Larkin, Scott Richardson, and Melanie Christmas outside Sports On Tap on Dec. 3.

Rivera’s 46-year-old brother Heriberto “Eddie” Rivera-Mateo was also found guilty of assault in the second degree and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree for the shooting of Scott Richardson during the same incident.

Prosecutors say Rivera and his brother jumped Richardson outside of the bar over a personal conflict. Richardson’s friend, Larkin, saw his friend being attacked and attempted to stop the fight.

Rivera punched Larkin before stabbing him seven times. Rivera stabbed the knife five to six inches into Larkin right below the sternum just missing his heart. As Rivera was fighting Larkin, Rivera-Mateo pulled out a pistol and fired the gun at Richardson.

Christmas then came out of the bar and was stabbed by Rivera.

Rivera and Rivera-Mateo were arrested by the Rochester Police Department on Dec. 4.

Rivera faces up to 25 years in prison. Rivera-Mateo faces up to 15 years in prison.

Both will be sentenced on Nov. 15.
