A memorial service was held Saturday night for fallen Rochester Police Officer Daryl Pierson.

Pierson was shot and killed in the line of duty on September 3rd of 2014, while chasing a suspect on Hudson Avenue.

Saturday night, dozens gathered at Trinity Community Church in Irondequoit to remember his life and legacy.

The pastor of the church, Don Wollschleger, was the RPD Chaplain who frequently rode with Pierson and accompanied him on patrols. He delivered a eulogy at the service.

“Daryl had a great personality, he was a servant and really cared about people,” says Wollschleger. “He was a man of integrity and a man of his word. He gave his all and paid the ultimate price for our welfare.”

Within the last ten years, six RPD officers have been shot in the line of duty, some seriously injured.
