The man wanted and later arrested in New York City, as part of an Amber Alert issued in Rochester, is back in Monroe County.
Rochester police say 41-year-old Robert Gonzalez took 14-year-old Joanna Coates earlier this week. An Amber Alert was issued Monday night and the pair was found Tuesday afternoon in Brooklyn.
Officers say the two had some type of relationship, but couldn’t elaborate. However, Coates’ mother says Joanna barely knew Gonzalez.
Gonzalez was arrested on a warrant unrelated to the Amber Alert. However, Tuesday afternoon, officers said he would likely face further charges which may include kidnapping.
Gonzalez is being held, awaiting arraignment.
Coates remains in New York City as of Wednesday morning.
