Man pleads guilty to stabbing ex, leaving her to die on side of road in Gates

Local News

A man has pleaded guilty to stabbing and killing his ex-girlfriend and leaving her to die on the side of the road in Gates.

Roger Wiggins was arrested for the murder in June as he tried to cross the border into Canada.

Police said Wiggins stabbed Tracy Henton-Williams in the neck and chest in his Jeep on June 11. After the stabbing, Henton-Williams fell from the Jeep and onto Buffalo Road.

Instead of stopping, investigators say Wiggins kept driving and later attempted to escape over the border but was stopped by an alert border patrol agent.

Henton-Williams was helped by Good Samaritans who called 911. She was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Wiggins pleaded guilty Monday to murder in the second degree. He will be sentenced in April.
