A jury returned a guilty verdict in the murder trial for a man accused of killing and burning one of his roommates last year.

After a seven day trial, a jury deliberated for less than an honor before finding Aykut Ozkaynak guilty in the death of 64-year-old Patrice Miller, of Gates. Ozkaynak was convicted of murder in the second degree and tampering with physical evidence.

Prosecutors say Ozkaynak’s girlfriend, Mary Neverett, helped him kill Miller on July 4, 2016. Ozkaynak and Neverett allegedly burned Miller’s body on Lacey Road in Caledonia.

Ozkaynak will be sentenced on January 11.
