A Rochester man is in custody after allegedly fleeing from police and crashing into a light pole during a traffic stop.
According to police, the 39-year-old-man was pulled over on Polaris Street around 2:00 Wednesday morning. He was asked to exit his car, but instead drove away and crashed into a nearby light pole. After crashing, he tried to run away on foot, but was quickly caught.
Police say the man is a convicted felon and had an illegal handgun in his possession.
