A 49-year-old man is facing charges for a double shooting overnight on York Street where a man was killed.

Forty-nine-year-old Joseph Boykins Senior was arrested for murder, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon along with multiple drug charges.

Police were called to York Street just after 1 a.m. for a report of a person shot. At the scene, they found 42-year-old Michael Earlsey and a 28-year-old had been shot.

Earlsey was rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The woman was taken to the hospital with injuries, but is expected to survive, police say.

Following the shooting, officers say they executed six warrants and seized a weapon and drugs related to the murder case.

Police say Boykins was involved in a previous relationship with the female victim in the case.

He will be arraigned Thursday morning in Rochester City Court.
