The man accused of killing a young mother and her child was in court Monday morning for another pre-trial hearing to determine how statements he made to police during their investigation were obtained.
Alberto Reyes was indicted by a Wayne County grand jury for the deaths of Selena Hidalgo-Calderon and her 14-month-old son Owen.
During Monday’s hearing, officers involved in the questioning of the suspect were interviewed by both prosecutors and defense.
They say, in the six to seven hours of questioning, Reyes never admitted to the crimes and asked for questioning to end, but it continued for another three hours.
Reyes did admit to finding Selena dead in their home off Joy Road in Sodus and burying her body in the woods. Police have said Reyes never spoke of the baby.
Owen’s body was found buried in the same wooded area, months after his mother’s body was discovered last May.
Reyes is charged with two counts of murder and two counts of tampering with evidence and federal charges.
His next court appearance is April 2.
