The Powerball lottery and Mega Millions lottery are at a record number for dueling jackpots in one weekend.
This weekend you have a chance to win over $600 million if you win both the Powerball and the Mega Millions.
While this is great for your bank account, it’s also a big boost to the state education system.
“It accounts for about 14 percent of education and we do fund schools with our money,” said New York Lottery Director Gweneth Dean. “We hope to keep giving these great prizes and seeing these jackpots grow.”
In the last year, more than $168 million was contributed to education in Monroe County alone by the New York State Lottery.
As of Friday at 5 p.m., the Powerball jackpot hit $286 million and the Mega Millions hit $323 million.
The Mega Millions drawing is Friday night and the Powerball drawing is Saturday.
