“I’m real sad,” said Jim Wesley, Sam’s Club Member.
Jim Wesley had been a member of Sam’s Club for nearly 25 years and was disappointed like many others to find out that one of his favorite stores will be closing soon.
“I wish they said lets just keep one open and either keep the Henrietta or Greece one open because I really like the store, I really like the prices,” said Wesley.
Wesley is a member of the Sam’s Club location in Greece. A location that was packed on Friday as customers tried to buy everything they could ahead of its end of January closing. Customers described the long lines inside the Greece location as something they would see on Black Friday. One guy tells us, it’s taken him nearly an hour to just find a shopping cart before going inside.
“After awhile it just became impossible to shop,” said Carrol Nettleton, Sam’s Club Member.
Nettleton said she arrived at Sam’s Club when it opened this morning hoping to get ahead of the long lines, but like her, hundreds if not thousands of customers had the same mentality.
“I got to the parking lot a little after 10 and the parking lot was packed. Lines went all the way down to China Town and I was like do I want to go in, but I did,” said Nettleton.
But despite the long lines, some customers tried to remain positive and thought about the savings they received on Friday.
“You’re not going to find 25 percent savings like this even though there are other places to go to right now. Today is the day to come in and try to stock up,” said Lisa DeJonge, Sam’s Club Member.
News 8 reached out to Sam’s Club to see if members will be compensated ahead of its closing. The company told us they’re remaining true to their policy’s on memberships and if a customer isn’t happy with their service, they will receive a full refund.
