There’s been a groundswell of support from local politicans to get ride-sharing operations Uber and Lyft in Upstate New York.
Uber says 1.5 million people in upstate have downloaded its app.
Legislation was sent to the State Assembly to allow ride-sharing in this part of the state.
Locally Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo is now getting on board in support of the bill.
In a letter to the legislature she cited economic advancement and the fact Uber and Lyft are allowed in most states.
The bill is expected to pass this January when the State Legislature meets again.
Uber and Lyft are already approved in New York City.
