Having trouble getting to the polls? There are folks out there who want to help you out. Organizations in Rochester are working to make sure you can cast your ballot.

Between 10 and 11 a.m., Bernie Sanders delegate Kevin Sweeney says they had around 30 requests for rides.

Sweeney says two dozen drivers are stationed around our area, some as far away as Churchville.

Democratic Chairwoman Jamie Romeo says they’ve been expecting a high turnout this primary.

“We’ve been getting calls for people that need rides to the polls probably for a week or so people usually call us in advance,” said Romeo.

The University of Rochester says it is also offering rides to students who need a way to get out and cast a ballot, especially for voters on the undergraduate campus who need to get to the polling place in the medical school.

Voters like Terri Knapp say they don’t believe there is an excuse not to vote, and free rides to the polls should be taken advantage of.
