To mark Human Trafficking Awareness Month, a coalition of local agencies, non-profits, faith-based organizations and individuals were recognized by Mayor Lovely Warren on Wednesday.

The Rochester Regional Coalition Against Human Trafficking is beginning to run an awareness campaign about the existence of human trafficking in our community.

“We have a campaign to educate the community,” the coalition said. “This problem not only affects the city, but suburbs – it’s not just in third world countries.”

New York has the fifth highest call volume to the National Human Trafficking Hotline of all 50 states.
