The Livingston County Board of Supervisors has voted to commission a third-party investigation into alleged misconduct by county employees, including Board Chairman Eric Gott.
A county administrator confirmed to News 8 that a social media post was provided to the Board that accused Gott and another employee of misconduct.
On Wednesday, the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously in favor of the independent investigation, which the county attorney will oversee. The decision was supported by Gott.
Livingston County issued the following statement, in part:
The Board will consider the allegations carefully since they may or may not pertain to Chairman Gott’s or the other employee’s roles with the County, and the County is looking into the matter further so it can determine what actually occurred. Once it knows what occurred, it can then determine whether any action is necessary. The County takes all allegations of sexual harassment seriously. The County does not condone sexually harassing behavior by any County employee or official.
This is a developing story. News 8 will provide more information as it becomes available.
