The Little Italy Association met to brainstorm ways to improve the Lyell Avenue — Jay Street corridor.
The future of the dormant soccer stadium that used to house the Rochester Rhinos was a big point of discussion.
Community members are fighting for solutions that will bring positive development and economic growth to the area.
“In this area, we need to focus on revitalization,” said Silvano Orsi, the president of the association.
“That involves better communication with local government, increased funding for the area to improve the public realm. That’s a disaster area. We don’t have proper lighting. We have to enable the area to attract investment.”
More than a dozen neighborhoods were represented at the meeting.
Orsi says the neighboorhood needs the cooperation of both local government and community members.
