Lilac Festival traffic causing headaches

Local News

Rochester Police as well as volunteers have been keeping up with the high volume of traffic all around Highland Park all week long for the Lilac Festival and the nice weather brings even more cars to the area.

“All the side streets are congested,” said Ephraim Gebre. “Everyone had the same idea as us.” Luck might be the best way to avoid parking congestion “We didn’t want to pay for parking, it’s $5, $10, you know, dip and dodge.”

Alissa Limuti does not have to worry about traffic. “I live right across the street, so I walk it,” said Limuti. She says even if she wanted to take the car, she would have to get out of the driveway. “It’s terrible, terrible; really bad.”

Other consider an Uber to avoid problems altogether, like Cass Donoghue. For those that do want to park, there are designated areas around Highland.
