Letchworth announces 2017 hunting season details

New York State Parks have announced details for the 2017 hunting season at Letchworth State Park. 

The park manager says that hunting for big game is allowable by permit only, and legal implements for hunting in Letchworth include: 

  • Bow,
  • Crossbow, 
  • Shotgun,
  • Muzzleloader, 
  • Handgun

Hunting with Rifles is not allowed.

Applications for hunting permits are available by calling 585-493-3600 or online at www.nysparks.com and should be mailed to:

Hunting Permit, One Letchworth State Park, Castile, NY 14427.

Archery hunting permits will be self-issued for the following schedule:

  • East Side hunting will take place beginning Sunday, October 1 through Tuesday, December 19
  • West Side hunting will take place beginning Tuesday, October 17 through Tuesday, December 19
  • Crossbow hunting will be allowed from November 4 to December 19

The southern portion of the park will be open for special archery only (antlerless deer only) from October 30 through December 19.
