Celebrate all things fall with Pumpkins on Parade this coming Monday, October 1 at Gro-Moore Farms in Henrietta.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Al Sigl Community of Agencies. Deb Salmon, the Al Sigl Foundation Vice President, discussed the fun fundraiser Friday during News 8 at Noon.
“Fall is here and a fall tradition is going to benefit Al Sigl and celebrate abilities and inclusion at this event, Pumpkins of Parade at Gro-Moore Farms,” said Salmon. “For over ten years Gro-Moore has done this event to benefit non-profits and to give back to the community and give the people a chance to get involved in a fun and unique way.”
Referencing a pumpkin on the set, she added, “On October 1, there’s going to be a silent auction of pumpkins like this and more elaborate pumpkins that are done by local artists as well as our member agencies, along with live music, some great comfort food, harvest food, and a unique setting in the green house at Gro-Moore farms. You can’t beat a more beautiful setting with the pumpkins, the mums, the corn stalks and all of that.”
The silent auction will begin a 6:30 p.m. There will be a News 8 pumpkin among those being auctioned off. “Fifty-five thousand people are served by the Al Sigl member agencies, and all of them were involved in this project also, creating pumpkins that will be up for auction, as well as participating in the event, and it really celebrates the abilities of people of all needs,” noted Salmon.
Pumpkins on Parade kicks off a busy October for the Al Sigl Community of Agencies. It culminates with the Walkabout at Eastview Mall on October 28. This will be the twenty-ninth year for the Walkabout. “This is the one opportunity where all the member agencies of the community can come together to celebrate the abilities of everyone,” Salmon said. “There’s a great costume contest as part of it. I know some of the station folks have been involved over the years, and have won the costume contest in the past as well. But many families say it is the best day of the year because they can be like any other child, celebrating abilities, and celebrating the Halloween and fall themes, and raising money to support the member agencies.”
