The jury in the Craig Rideout murder trial began day 4 of deliberations Monday morning.
Before deliberations began, the defense attorneys for Alex and Colin Rideout, their mother Laura Rideout, and her boyfriend Paul Tucci once again requested a mistrial. This time, they pointed to the body language and demeanor of juror 8, suggesting they may be too emotion. However, the judge agreed with the prosecution that this is obviously a difficult and emotional case, and that deliberations will take time due to the sheer number of defendants and the amount of evidence and testimony to review.
Paul Tucci’s attorney, Michael Schiano recognizes this is a difficult time for everyone in this case saying, “It clearly is draining on everyone you can tell from the judge to the attorneys to the jurors it’s very draining on everyone. It’s trying, everyone knew it was going to be difficult for them to look at al of the evidence and they’ve got to come to four separate verdicts for four separate defendants. It’s difficult.”
The jury will return to deliberating at 2 p.m. Monday. They took a break at 10:30 because one of the jurors had a doctor’s appointment. When they return, they’ve asked to see the shoes allegedly worn by some of the defendants. They’ve previously seen photographs of that evidence but have now asked to see the shoes in person.
News 8 will continue following jury deliberations and bring you the very latest.
