Inner Loop Project Update: Charlotte Street re-opens

Local News
The City of Rochester celebrated the opening of Charlotte Street at the Inner Loop Project.

Mayor Lovely Warren rode up to the celebration in a beautiful 1964 Chevrolet, manufactured the year Charlotte Street was last completely open.
After the ribbon cutting, that car was the first to drive back down the newly renovated street. Charlotte Street is now the first new connection to downtown, as a result of the Inner Loop East Transformation Project.
“Just like this street was separated from itself, our residential streets have been separated from downtown by this moat for more than 50 years.Well today this part of the moat is getting filled and Charlotte Street has been reunited as one street,” says Warren.
The next phase of the project will be opening Broad Street, and they estimate that will happen by Thanksgiving. Then they will begin working on Union Street through the winter months.
The project is on budget and the contractor believes things could even finish months ahead of schedule.
