The Hickok Center for Brain Injury is celebrated its move to a new facility with an open house event on Wednesday.
After 14 years at its location on South Union Street in Rochester, the Hickok Center is now located on Brighton Henrietta Townline Road.
The new center is larger and the additional space will be used to better serve those who are recovering from traumatic brain injuries and neurological challenges.
“Just having a new place really brings people spirits up and coming to a new place every day is energy in itself,” said Elaine Comarella, Hickok Center for Brain Injury. “But people are enjoying the spaces that we have.”
She adds, “we have a kitchen area, which is a multi-use room, we have a computer lab, we have a big lounge area with a smart board and so the space is much more wide open for people.”
The new location is also located on one floor versus two floors at the previous location. We’re told this makes the facility safer for those recovering from traumatic brain injuries.
