The group called “Take Back the Land Rochester” gathered Wednesday outside the foreclosed home of a woman who’s now bracing for eviction. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department scheduled an eviction Wednesday for Elizabeth McGriff, who is trying to hang on to the home on Cedarwood Terrace. Midfirst Bank foreclosed on McGriff’s house when she fell behind on payments. McGriff claims the bank would not help her with further modifications to her loan.
“I’ll probably be homeless,” McGriff says. “It’s something I don’t want to really think about but it could be a possibility.” No one from the Sheriff’s Department showed up Wednesday. But a spokesman says says McGriff could be evicted at any time.
