Last year, 1 in 15 people were victims of identity fraud. It’s a tough reality to face. That’s why the Tops Friendly Market’s store in Greece hosted a community shredding event.
It was in partnership with the Better Business Bureau and AT&T. People were able to bring up to three boxes of personal information and shred it for free.
Organizers tell us this just one of many steps you can take to protect your identity.
“You’re limited to three boxes but we’ve had many more people bring carloads and truckloads of information. There’s a lot of personal information that we’ve stored through the years and they need to dispose of it,” said Barbara Millet.
Similar events took place at Tops locations in Baldwinsville, Cheektowaga, and West Seneca.
