There were other children on the bus at the time of the incident, but no other person was involved in the assault.

The bus monitor sustained minor injuries to her jaw area and was treated at an area hospital on the day of the incident.

A spokesperson with the Pittsford Central School District says they are cooperating with investigators. The incident was captured on video from the bus surveillance camera.

Pittsford Central school District provided us with the following statement:

“The Pittsford Central School District (PCSD) is working closely with the Greece Police Department to thoroughly investigate the incident that took place on a PCSD school bus on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in Greece, NY.

“Due to the active nature of the police and school district investigations, as well as several Federal and New York State Education Laws protecting students’ disciplinary and educational records, evidence and background information in this case are not legally available to the public.

“However, the PCSD has a comprehensive Code of Conduct (PCSD Policy 3410) and regulations governing student behavior and disciplinary protocol for PCSD students. Code of Conduct violations are handled with strong and impactful action.

“Furthermore, with respect to Federal and New York State ‘residency’ and ‘access to public education’ laws, the school district is limited in describing or explaining a student’s residency and/or school of origin.”
