Greece man charged with criminally negligent homicide in death of pedestrian

A Greece man who struck and killed a pedestrian in the Town of Walworth in October is facing multiple charges, including criminally negligent homicide. 

Deputies say 54-year-old Stephen Mazzochetti Jr. became distracted and went into the opposite lane on Teresa Drive on Oct. 7. He struck Roger Drouin, of Walworth, from behind as he was walking on the sidewalk.

Drouin was transported via Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital where died on Oct. 9.

Mazzochetti is charged with criminal negligent homicide, assault in the third degree, and traffic offenses including reckless driving, failure to exercise due care, aggravated unlicensed
operation in the third degree, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, driving on a sidewalk,
and failure to keep right.

He was arraigned and remanded to jail on $1,500 cash bail.
