Greece dedicates new Memorial Hall to veterans

Local News

The town of Greece has a new tribute to the men and women who served our country.

A dedication ceremony was held on Wednesday for Memorial Hall, located in the Greece Town Hall.

It includes a display featuring the names of 5,000 service members who served in wars. Twenty more will be added on Memorial Day.

A special guest at the ceremony, Gary Biekirch, is a local Vietnam veteran who is also a Medal of Honor recipient.
“Forgetting isn’t ‘getting better,’” said Biekirch. “Getting better is being able to find others in the community who care – and they are there – finding others in the community who will listen, who will stand by you, support you, grieve with you and remembering the sacrifice and service.”

If you live in Greece, and want to submit your love one’s name, call the town supervisor’s office at 723-2311.
