Parents Magazine has named The University of Rochester Medical Center’s Golisano Children’s Hospital as one of the nation’s top 20 children’s hospitals in technology.
The survey considered past innovations at hospitals and the use of emerging technology.
The magazine cites a new medical device at the Golisano Children’s Hospital that combines two common scans (an MRI and a PET) so children only need to go through one procedure rather than two.
This is the first hospital to have this equipment, and even better, it is decorated to resemble a pirate ship which makes the experience less stressful.
During the scan the children even have the option to watch a movie. This provides children with a more positive experience.
The Golisano Children’s Hospital was listed among St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and John Hopkins Children’s Center.
