A pet owner in Geneva is facing charges after investigators say he left his dog in a hot car.
Twenty-nine-year-old Roger Chilson is charged with aggravated cruelty to an animal.
The Humane Society says Chilson left his five-year-old Boxer mix dog named “Shadow” in a vehicle, parked in direct sunlight, for 50 minutes.
It was 80 degrees outside and officials say the temperature inside the vehicle surpassed 110 degrees.
A necropsy found Shadow died of heat exposure.
Chilson was taken to Ontario County Jail ahead of arraignment.
