Gates woman indicted on manslaughter charge in stabbing death of partner

Local News

A 40-year-old Gates woman has been indicted on lesser charge in the stabbing death of her partner.

Doris Carrasquillo has been indicted on a first-degree manslaughter charge for allegedly stabbing 28-year-old Kashmire Nazier Redd. Carrasquillo was initially charged with second-degree murder.

On Sept. 4, emergency crews found Redd still breathing after he was allegedly stabbed inside their home off of Lyell Avenue.

“He was able to get out of the house, he collapsed on the front lawn,” said Police Chief James Van Brederode. “When police arrived, he was still alive and then taken to Strong Memorial Hospital where he passed away.”

Van Brederode says Redd, who identified as a transgender man, and Carrasquillo were in a relationship and had lived in their home since June.
