Addicts that are battling opioid addiction in Monroe County will now have more opportunities to get the help they need.
Currently there are only 25 detox beds to help those recovering from addiction.
But the Town of Gates developed a new collaboration project that could answer that problem
A program called Gates to Recovery was able to significantly increase the number of detox beds for local addicts by seeking help from out-of-state.
According to Gates Town Supervisor Mark Assini the new collaboration is with a treatment facility in Pennsylvania. They will make more than 50 beds accessible.
Amanda Colbert with Summit for Behavioral Health Care said they will drive them down and back from their three facilities in Pennsylvaina.
“Typically its anywhere from 24 to 48 hours that were able to coordinate that, the goal of our company is that rapid engagement,” said Colbert.
Colbert said their program is a long-term treatment lasting up to 90 days.
The program also connects people with a halfway house and other forms of support and care after their initial treatment.
