RUSH, NY (WROC) — A prominent Rochester-area fire chief is being laid to rest on Wednesday.
James Bucci Jr., who served as head of the Rush Fire Department, passed away last Thursday.
Funeral services were underway on Wednesday for Bucci in Henrietta.
Before the services started, we saw several members from the Rush Fire Department along with other agencies lined up outside the Dome Arena who saluted as the casket arrived.
As the body of Chief Bucci was escorted in, music from the bagpipes played filled the air. Inside the Dome Arena, co-workers gave remarks about the former fire chief and shared memories during the service as they said their goodbye.
They remembered Bucci as a man who made a difference in all the work that he did over the years. Family members sat in the front row and did not speak during Wednesday morning’s service.
Hymns were played and the bell was rung nine times.
Along with his service in Rush, Bucci served with Henrietta Ambulance (now CHS Mobile Integrated Healthcare) and with the county’s Hazmat team and EMS Advisory Board.
