Full jury seated in trial of man accused in double fatal Waterloo shooting

Local News

A full jury has been seated in the trial for Emerson “John” Tohafjian, the man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and another man this past summer in Waterloo.

Opening arguments are set to begin Tuesday morning in Seneca County.

Tohafjian was arrested on July 11, hours after troopers say he ambushed his ex-girlfriend Lori McConnell, Charlie Andrus and another woman.

McConnell and Andrus were both killed in the shooting. The third victim suffered injuries and was treated at the hospital.

The shooting sparked a multi-hour manhunt that ended with Tohafjian being arrested while hiding out at a Phelps campground.

Tohafjian faces life behind bars for the two murder counts.
