Four escape house fire on Avenue D, one person injured

Local News

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A fire on Avenue D in Rochester Friday night destroyed a home and sent one person to the hospital.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 8:00 p.m. Firefighters say four people and a dog were able to escape the home. One person suffered burns to their face and arm.

Firefighters say the fire burned through an electrical supply wire, which fell to the ground and posed an additional hazard to crews on the scene. RG&E was called to address that line and turn off the gas supply.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
