The Newark Fire Department says four dogs were pulled from a home that caught fire Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the house on Driving Park Avenue around 4:30 p.m. for a report of smoke coming from an upstairs window. When crews arrived they found a working fire on the first floor that had spread to the second floor and attic.

As firefighters were battling the flames, neighbors told them there were dogs still inside the home. Crews were able to rescue all four dogs from the house safely.

No one was injured and the cause is under investigation.
