Fleet Feet Sports collecting shoes for Harvey victims

Local News

Fleet Feet Sports in Rochester is asking you to donate gently-used shoes and new socks to be donated to those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

A clean, dry pair of shoes can be a small step towards normalcy for the flooding victims.

“Hurricane Harvey has clearly decimated parts of Houston and Texas,” said Ellen Brenner-Boutillier, owner of Fleet Feet Sports in Rochester. “These individuals lost everything they have. And that means possibly no transportation for them. So what they need is their feet. Their feet might not have shoes anymore. So having shoes will make them more comfortable and help them get where they need to go.”

Fleet Feet Sports of Greater Houston and Fleet Feet Sports San Antonio will work to get these shoes and socks to organizations and people in need.

All Fleet Feet Sports locations are accepting donations — you can bring your donations to locations at the Culver Road Armory and on Ridgeway Avenue.

The company had a similar initiative following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
