First Niagara branches switching to KeyBank

Local News

Heads up if you’re a First Niagara customer! When First Niagara Bank branches reopen after the holiday weekend on Tuesday, they’ll be known as KeyBank branches.

Key Corporation purchased the Buffalo-based First Niagara Financial Group in late July.

On Friday, all First Niagara branches will close at 3 p.m. Online, mobile, and telephone banking will be unavailable until Tuesday.

But good news for consumers – the transition should be a smooth one.

“First Niagara customers will be able to use the same ATM card, debit card, credit cards and checks,” said James Barger, KeyBank Rochester Market President. “Their account numbers will not change and their PIN numbers will not change.”

Another important note – customers can use any ATM at a KeyBank or First Niagara branch to take out cash over the weekend.
