PITTSFORD, NY (WROC) — Firefighters were able to rescue dogs from a home after it caught fire on Thursday.

Fire crews were called to a home off Thornell Road near East Street for the fire just before 11 a.m.

We’re told the fire started in the garage but spread to the home. Nobody was home but we’re told dogs were inside the residence.

Thankfully, firefighters were able to remove them from the home.

As of noon, the fire was out. The home sustained substantial damage, deputies say.
