Firefighters mark sixth anniversary of West Webster ambush

Local News

Monday marked the sixth anniversary of the tragic shooting in West Webster, which took place on Christmas Eve, and resulted in the death of two firefighters.

In 2012, first responders were called to Lake Road to put out a fire which had been set by William Spengler. Spengler then shot and killed Lt. Michael Chiapperini, 43, and Tomasz Kaczowka, 19.

Two other firefighters were injured.

Signs honoring the late firemen have been put up by the Badge of Honor Society, across from where the two men were killed.
