Fire crews on scene of a house fire on Wilder Street Wednesday night said that a fire started in the lower side of the house and spread into the attic.
The Battalion Chief on scene says that call came in at 8:15 p.m. and the fire was under control by 8:30 p.m., but that the attic was destroyed in that time. He says that if they hadn’t gotten there when they did, the entire house would have been compromised.
There were no injuries in the fire. Responders say that there was nobody inside the house, and that, to their knowledge, the house is vacant.
Crews remained on scene after the fire was under control, putting out hot spots in the attic.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
