Fire crews battle massive house fire in Irondequoit

An Irondequoit home is a total loss following a fire on Sea View Avenue.

According to firefighters, one person was home at the time of the fire. They say he tried to extinguish it, but that it spread too quickly.

Firefighters say no people were injured, but at least two dogs did die in the fire. 

They say the house is a total loss and is expected to be knocked down within a few hours. 

Firefighters say the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but that they do believe it began in the area of the porch. 

Six fire companies assisted in putting out the fire. Red Cross has been contacted to assist two occupants of the burned house, as well as a neighboring house with two occupants that is now without power. 


Firefighters are working to knock down a massive blaze Thursday afternoon.

Crews were called around 5:15 p.m. for the fire on Sea View Avenue. A video posted online shows flames shooting from a home.
