FAIRPORT, NY (WROC) — Fairport students are moving into the banking world as the school district plans to create a student-run credit union next year.
The credit union will be part of a financial literacy effort by the district, with help from Advantage Federal Credit Union, that will teach students accounting, lending, marketing, human resources, collections, and fraud, among other topics.
In a release, Advantage officials write, “This is an amazing opportunity for students to have real-life hands-on experience of running a business while learning real-life skills of budgeting and banking.”
The course is slated to begin in the fall of 2019.
