Fatal industrial accident at Seneca Meadows Landfill

On Saturday around 11 in the morning, the Town of Seneca Falls Police Department responded to a fatal industrial accident that occurred at Seneca Meadows Landfill in the Town of Seneca Falls, NY.

Upon arrival, it was discovered that an employee was struck by a tractor trailer combination that was in the process of unloading.

Police say the accident is still under investigation with the full cooperation of Seneca Meadows Landfill Administration.

The Town of Seneca Falls Police were assisted at the scene by the Seneca Falls Fire Department, the North Seneca Ambulance, the Seneca County Coroner, and the New York State Police.

OSHA will also be assisting into the further investigation into the accident.

The victim in the accident has been identified as James L. Corter, 55, of Seneca Falls.

Corter was operating the tipper machine when he was struck by a tractor trailer. The tractor trailer was in the process of backing up onto the tipper machine. The tipper machine is used to unload refuse that is loaded onto trailers that are brought into Seneca Meadows Landfill.

Tractor trailer is owned by Pocono Logistics Inc. OSHA is still on scene continuing their investigation.
