Fashion Week of Rochester is this week beginning Tuesday, October 13 and running through Sunday, October 18 inside The Tents on Main at Midtown in Rochester.
Fashion Week benefits The Center for Youth.
Chief Fashion Organizer Meghan Mundy and The Center for Youth Executive Director Elaine Spaull discussed the annual event Monday on News 8 at Noon.
This year a fifth runway show has been added to the event which showcases the best of Rochester, while helping address some of the city’s most pressing needs.
Federal funding has been cut off for The Center for Youth’s Street Outreach program, which helps identify young people living on the streets or in other unstable situations. The Center for Youth team connects them with emergency and safe housing, resources for medical and mental health issues, education, food and hygiene supplies. Proceeds from Fashion Week will help keep some level of the Street Outreach program in place.
