It was a sight no one wants to see when they return from vacation.
Heather Evans and her family returned to Rochester from their 10-day vacation in Florida, only to find two tires stolen right off their car in the airports garage.
She says when they finally left with their car, they were told they still had to pay the full, 10-days of parking.
Evans says she was told there wasn’t even security footage because they were parked in a dead zone.
The airport says it’s a rare and unfortunate occurrence.
“I can’t believe that in 2018 that whole place is not under surveillance,” said Evans. “I mean that parking lot isn’t that far away from the airport. Bad things happen. So, I just feel like it should be more secure than it is.”
“We’ve got multiple layers of security throughout the entire airport both inside and outside,” said Andy Moore, interim director of aviation. “The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is our law enforcement agency at the airport.”
The airport says it will be reimbursing Evans for the $168 they had to pay for the parking.
They are also working with the family to replace the wheels.
