The annual Project Homeless Connect Rochester (PHCR) was held on Thursday at the Blue Cross Arena.
PHCR acted as a “one-stop shop” event, serving the homeless as well as individuals who are at risk of becoming homeless.
The services offered went well beyond their immediate needs. Services included health and medical screenings, mental health assessments, veteran services, haircuts, services for the youth, substance abuse recovery services, and employment information.
“Access to services is so difficult for homeless individuals if they don’t have proper ID, so we have the ability to issue birth certificates, non-driver IDs,” Senior Vice President of Property Management at Pathstone Corporation Kathryn Bryan said. “Then we have health services, hygiene services, referrals for housing, veteran services, and legal services.”
Over 350 volunteers represented 85 different agencies at the event.
